No Greater Love

The rivers of Southern West Virginia are a great place to fish and when my next door neighbor Chucky and I weren’t playing Cowboys and Indians or jumping off the porch with our Superman capes (bath towel tied around our neck), we would fish. Chucky’s family liked to fish and so did mine. On the weekends, my family and I would travel to our favorite fishing hole “Bass Lake” and fish off the bank.

Chucky and his dad, Charlie, had a boat and they were able to go further out on the lakes and rivers and find better fishing spots. One weekend, while they were out fishing, the boat capsized, and Chucky and his dad were tossed into the swift current. Charlie was able to place Chucky on top of the overturned boat, but he was unable to save himself and was swept away by the swift current and drowned. Chucky was saved because of his Dad’s heroic efforts. Charlie Ayers gave everything for the life of his son. Charlie was motivated by his love for his child and overcame the barriers and dangers that would have made someone else say, "It's too risky." Chucky was rescued because his Dad loved him and wanted him safe. God loves you and wants you safe. Jesus gave His all to save us put your trust in Him, you'll be glad you did.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”.

John 15:13
